When I was a young salesman I didn't allow myself to get excited about small victories. I'd downplay them because I had set high expectations for myself and was afraid of getting complacent. I was afraid that if I got too excited I might somehow get extra down when the next inevitable setback arrived.
Today, after 30 years of corporate sales I know that one of the best things you can do for your team and yourself is to celebrate every victory. Business is a game and games are supposed to be fun. Jack Welsh says that "celebrations are one of the most underrated management tools in the world." Why shouldn't your team be happy when they land a new order or account. I say celebrate every victory you can because when people have a positive outlook and are excited and confident in their abilities good things happen. Besides it's much more fun to be with a winning team.
So you ahead - CELEBRATE!
